Justine Baltazar records another triple-double as Pampanga secures 16th straight win

Justine Baltazar tallied another triple-double as the Pampanga Giant Lanterns scored a dominant 76-60 victory over the Caloocan Batang Kankaloo in the 2024 MPBL season on Tuesday night at the Caloocan Sports Complex.

The reigning MPBL Most Valuable Player finished with 12 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists as the defending champion Giant Lanterns secured their 16th straight win for a 16-1 win-loss slate.

“Basta ako ginagawa ko lang kung ano ‘yung kailangan ko gawin sa loob ng court para makatulong sa team,” said Baltazar, who tallied his fifth career triple-double, the most by any player in the MPBL.

“Pinaghahandaan naman namin every team na nakakalaban namin, hindi kami puwede makumpiyansa,” added Baltazar, who is being tipped to be the top-overall pick in the PBA Rookie Draft this Sunday.

Archie Concepcion led the Giant Lanterns with 21 points, including two triples, to go with six rebounds, five assists, and two steals, while Jeff Viernes and Jhaymo Eguilos added 17 and 12 points, respectively.

Paul Sanga finished with 13 points, including three three-point conversions, while Jeramer Cabanag added 10 markers as Caloocan dropped to an 8-6 record.

Meanwhile, the Quezon Huskers (15-0) preserved their unbeaten record with a 70-59 victory over the Quezon City TODA Aksyon (8-9).

Jason Opiso tallied 24 points to lead the Huskers.
