Retired broadcaster Jay Sonza has started a thread on Facebook complaining that the public isn’t getting the value for what they are paying to our lawmakers.
In other words, the taxpayers are paying premium to our lawmakers but in exchange, we are receiving garbage in terms of quality of work from our lawmakers.
Sonza went on to support his argument by giving the public an idea how much the taxpayers spend for the upkeep of our lawmakers.
Each congressman is alloted over P500k per month and each senator, P2M for law making process or legislative allowances. This are billions of pesos in taxpayers money.
Sonza urged netizens to pay a closer attention to our Congressmen when they file and introduce a bill.
Look at how they file and introduce their bills sans proper research, studies, constitutional and legal basis, expert opinion and explanation of intents and purposes.
Sonza arrived with his conclusion while watching yesterday’s joint committee hearing at the House.

Sonza clarified that there are exceptions to the rule but only a few.
Of course, that is not to say that some of them are doing it the right way. in fairness, mayroon namang mangilanngilan na ayos ang galaw.
Sonza ended the post by saying that the taxpayers seem to be short-changed. He urged the public to comment if they agree with him on this one.

This netizen totally agree with Sonza’s assertion. I observed that too! Ang laki ng binibigay na budget sa kanila but the quality of work i. e. proposed laws and responsiveness to the needs or requirements of the country is not the one being addressed and prioritized. Self preservation and vested interests where money talks seem to be the game plan…. I am not generalizing but this can be seen from how some of these legislators behave…..
Another netizen shared the sentiment of Sonza that the taxpayers have been short-changed by our Congressmen and Senators. We are being short changed by nearly all of them… its about time we liberate and emancipate ourselves from this mental disillusionment and mental slavery being used against us one and all people of the Republic of the Philippines…Liberate us all please…liberate us from all of these procrastinators.
This netizen remarked that the voters need to wise up and remove the low quality senators. More than half of the so called senators don’t have the capacity to be lawmakers. They should be weeded out in the next 2 or 3 elections….
