Adamson seeks to replicate last season’s UAAP Final Four run

The Adamson Soaring Falcons aim to replicate their success from last season by winning the playoff for the Final Four slot as they take on the defending champions, the Ateneo Blue Eagles, on Wednesday.

Matt Montebon kept the Falcons’ Final Four hopes alive with a game-winning triple against the UE Red Warriors on Saturday. The victory improved Adamson’s record to 7-7, tying the Eagles.

In Season 85, the Falcons finished the elimination round tied with the DLSU Green Archers with identical 7-7 win-loss records. Adamson leaned on Jerom Lastimosa’s heroics to beat the Archers in a playoff game and enter the Final Four.

This season, Racela and his wards want to return to the playoffs.

“That’s all we want—to get a crack at that Final Four because Adamson also deserved to be there, right? Aren’t you surprised? Are you guys surprised that Adamson is competing?” Racela said in a Tiebreaker Times report.

The veteran coach also mentioned “settling for the defaults.”

“Give us a chance. Don’t settle for the defaults,” he added.

During Adamson’s second-round match-up against the Eagles on November 12, Racela complained about the number of calls that went against his team. He also ranted that the UAAP probably wants Ateneo to enter the Final Four.

Racela had issued an apology regarding his statement and avoided a suspension from the UAAP. (MJD)
