The PLDT High Speed Hitters are proud to finally score their first-ever win over the Creamline Cool Smashers following their 22-25, 25-14, 25-22, and 27-25 stunner to close their PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference campaign on Thursday night.
According to High Speed Hitters team captain Kath Arado, even if they are already out of the Final Four contention entering the match, they still put up a good showing to secure the morale-boosting win.
“Sobrang nakaka-proud,” Arado said. “’Yun nga, kahit na kinapos kami, andun pa din ‘yung willingness ng tao na mag-improve pa, tsaka hindi naman matatapos ‘yung laban sa isang panget na laro.”
“Lagi ngang pinapaalala ng coaches sa amin na, ‘Habang may bola, may laban.’ Hindi kami papasok dun sa taas kapag hindi namin natalo ‘yung mga nasa taas. Creamline is standard din ng volleyball,” she added.
“Nag iimprove kami pero nag iimprove din ‘yung ibang teams, so kailangan pa naming magtrabaho pero big motivation ito para sa amin na magtrabaho pa para ma reach ‘yung goals ng team,” she further said.
High Speed Hitters head coach Rald Ricafort, for his part, said their upset victory over the Cool Smashers is motivation for his team for the next PVL conference.
“Actually, ‘yun nga, part ng motivation namin ‘yun kasi nga very difficult ‘yung situation na kailangan naming pagdaanan para makalusot sa semis pero hindi puwedeng daanan lang namin,” Ricafort said.
“Nandun pa din ‘yung motivation na, ‘Hindi man tayo makapasok, at least makaisa tayo.’ Hindi pa nila nakukuha ever since (‘yun first win against Creamline), so malaking bagay para sa amin, sana.”
