Fil-Am Ethan Alvano shows passing skills as Wonju stays undefeated

Ethan Alvano displayed his playmaking ability as the Wonju DB Promy cruised to a lopsided 94-58 victory over the Seoul Samsung Thunders in the Korean Basketball League on Tuesday night at the Wonju Sports Complex.

The Filipino-American guard dished out a season-high 11 assists to go with his 10 points, four steals, and two rebounds as Wonju notched their seventh victory in as many matches.

Sangjae Kang led the way with 18 points, including two three-point conversions, while Didrick Lawson and Inwoong Park contributed 10 markers apiece, and former NBA player Jeff Withey hauled 11 rebounds to go with nine points for Wonju.

Wonju head coach Kim Joo-seong credited their much-improved defense this season as a key to their unbeaten start so far in the competition.

“I think our defense is working well. The goal was to make it difficult for the opponent to get away with the ball,” Kim said. “On offense, I ordered my players to be bold and aggressive with their attacks.”

Kofi Coburn tallied 15 points, while Ishmael Lane added 14 markers as the Thunders dropped to a 2-5 win-loss record.
