Saints and Lattes-Letran Saint Spikers standout Vince Himzon emerged as the Most Valuable Player for the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference 2023, which closed on Friday night at the Filoil Ecooil Centre in San Juan City.
The 22-year-old middle blocker emerged second in scoring with 61 points built on 48 spikes on a 56.47-percent success rate (#1) and second in blocks with 12 at an average of 0.80 per set (#2).
Fellow Saint Spikers player Bem-Bem Bautista, on the other hand, was adjudged the Best Outside Spiker award after ranking third in scoring this conference with 58 points total.
Himzon and Bautista served as the one-two punch for the Brian Esquibel-led Saint Spikers, which surprised the competition with their fourth-place finish.
Three Cignal HD Spikers also received individual awards in JP Bugaoan (Best Middle Blocker), Joshua Umandal (Best Outside Spiker), and Manuel Sumanguid (Best Libero).
Two Sta. Elena-National University Bulldogs members were also cited, with Joshua Retamar winning Best Setter and Leo Ordiales nabbing the Best Opposite Spiker award.
