A 17-year-old taekwondo novice from Jesus Is Lord College Foundation, Inc. (JILFC) suffered multiple injuries after her coach purportedly arranged a sparring session with a seasoned and significantly heavier practitioner.
The female jin, a yellow belt, suffered bruises under her eye and a swollen face after sparring with a male jin, who holds a black belt, in February.
In taekwondo, a yellow belt signifies a beginner level, whereas a black belt indicates a high level of proficiency in the martial art.
Kakasimula ko lang po,” she added.
The lopsided sparring session video was posted online by the Page ni Alpoks Facebook page.

The female jin’s mother, however, suspected that her daughter’s coach deliberately arranged the lopsided sparring session out of jealousy.
The mother also observed that the taekwondo coach had feelings for her daughter and became upset when her boyfriend arrived at their practice venue with a bouquet of flowers.
Sabi ko di na normal yun,” the victim’s mother said.
The mother further expressed that her daughter was deeply impacted, both mentally and physically, by the incident. She noted instances where her daughter would suddenly collapse, even while fully awake.
According to the news report, the police have filed charges against the coach for violating Republic Act No. 7610, also known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
Meanwhile, the JILCF management announced that they have suspended the taekwondo team’s training sessions, including those with the coaches, while they continue to investigate the incident.
