Creamline Cool Smashers star Diana Carlos downplayed her standout performance in their 26-28, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 16-14 triumph against the Cignal HD Spikers in the PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Carlos stated that she doesn’t dwell on her career-high 38 points, emphasizing that securing a come-from-behind victory over the HD Spikers holds more significance for the Cool Smashers.
“‘Yung 38 points naman hindi personal points ‘yan eh, team points ‘yan, kahit naman ilang points ang makuha namin individually happy kami kasi it is really for the team,” Carlos said. “Ang mahalaga nanalo kami.”
“Syempre grateful ako na may ganitong opportunity (na nakakuha ako ng 38 points), pero kahit sino naman ang maka-career game sa amin, masaya kami, lagi namang nauuna ‘yung team for us,” she added.
Carlos acknowledged that the victory wasn’t easy for the Cool Smashers, noting that they were caught off guard in the first two sets before mounting a significant comeback in the following three sets.
“Another learning experience (ito) para sa amin,” Carlos said. “Gusto lang talaga naming manalo ‘yung team and masaya kami at nakapag execute kami nung endgame.”
“Ayaw lang namin matalo, wala namang special sa ginawa namin in this game. It is just really that we played our hearts out; maganda lang sa mga coaches na kahit two sets behind kami; wala silang sinabi na makaka pressure sa amin,” she added.
The Cool Smashers’ triumph has secured them the top spot in the standings, boasting a 6-1 win-loss record.
