The National University Lady Bulldogs aim to avoid being swept as they kick off the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament finals series against the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Lady Bulldogs star Mhicaela Belen highlighted that their two-game finals defeat to the De La Salle University Lady Spikers in UAAP Season 85 served as a valuable lesson and motivation for them to strive for victory this season.
“Siguro ‘yung natutunan ko from the last two seasons is ‘yung pagtatrabaho at pag tiyaga kasi wala talagang makukuha sa madalian lang, kailangan talaga ng tiyaga at sipag,” Belen said.
“Dapat natuto na kami sa nangyari sa amin (against DLSU),” she added. “Last season, nakapasok kami sa finals, pero wala kaming naipanalong game. Ayaw na naming maulit ‘yun.”
Belen also emphasized that the Lady Bulldogs will not underestimate the Golden Tigresses, despite their dominant win over them in the second round of the eliminations.
“Hindi namin ibe-baby ‘yung laro, ibibigay namin ‘yung 100 percent namin para manalo and para mapahirapan sila. Alam naman namin na hindi nila ibibigay ang laro ng laruan kaya kailangan pag trabahuhan,” she said.
The Lady Bulldogs are aiming to secure their second UAAP women’s volleyball tournament championship in the last three seasons.
