Geo Chiu departs Ateneo to join Taiwan Mustangs

Geo Chiu will no longer return for his final year with the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles after being signed up by the Taiwan Mustangs for The Asian Tournament (TAT).

The 6-foot-10 center already made his debut for the Chris Gavina-mentored Mustangs in the TAT Passi City leg, tallying six points and seven rebounds in an 83-78 win over the Zamboanga Valientes on Tuesday.

The Gilas Pilipinas center was used sparingly by Blue Eagles head coach Tab Baldwin last UAAP season, where he averaged 1.35 points and 2.28 rebounds in 14 games.

Chiu is the fourth member of the Blue Eagles team to depart aside from Kai Ballungay, Jared Brown, and Jason Credo, who is now with the Iloilo United Royals in the MPBL.

After his stint with the Mustangs, Chiu is reportedly to tryout for a Japan B.League squad in time for the 2024–2025 season.
