UAAP fans: UP guard Harold Alarcon bagong ‘King Archer’

University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons guard Harold Alarcon became the subject of jests from UAAP fans after a misguided three-point attempt in the closing moments of their 73-69 loss to the De La Salle University Green Archers in Game 3 of the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament finals on Wednesday night.

In a critical moment with the Fighting Maroons trailing 67-70 and plenty of time left on their shot clock, Alarcon attempted a misguided three-pointer from the corner that missed the mark, resulting in a turnover and returning possession to the Green Archers.

Green Archers forward Kevin Quiambao solidified the victory and clinched the championship for his squad, successfully converting three out of four free throw attempts.

Alarcon’s ill-advised three-pointer prompted netizens to dub him the new “King Archer,” a moniker previously given to former University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers forward Aljon Mariano for his lackluster performance in Game 3 of the UAAP finals a decade ago.
