Alyja Daphne “Jaja” Santiago confirmed that she will not be returning to play for the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in their PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference battle-for-bronze medal game against the Petro Gazz Angels.
The former National University Lady Bulldogs star expressed her desire to join the Crossovers but stated that she is taking a cautious approach due to her ongoing Japanese naturalization process.
Interestingly, Santiago was eligible to compete for the Crossovers this conference as she was included in the team’s 20-player roster.
“Makikita niyo ko doon (sa battle for third), but I am not playing because I am in the process na (of naturalization sa Japan). It’s hard to risk. I can play, but it’s hard to risk kasi nasa process na ko,” Santiago said.
Rumors of Santiago potentially playing for Chery Tiggo resurfaced after she was seen attending the team’s training session on Wednesday, as shared in Abigail Marano’s Instagram story.
Santiago, who currently plays for JT Marvelous in the Japan V.League, has continued with her naturalization process as she pursues the opportunity to represent Japan’s national women’s volleyball team.
