In a significant roster shake-up, WWE has released several notable talents, including Cedric Alexander, Sonya Deville, Blair Davenport, and the tag team Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) along with their manager, Hall of Famer Paul Ellering, according to multiple wrestling reports.
Alexander, who joined WWE in 2016 after an impressive performance in the Cruiserweight Classic, confirmed his departure on social media. He expressed gratitude for his 8.5-year tenure, stating, “Being a professional wrestler has been a dream of mine since I could form memories, and I will continue to do so till the good Lord says otherwise.”
Deville, known for her roles both as an in-ring competitor and authority figure, was informed that her contract would not be renewed upon its upcoming expiration. Deville had recently returned from a torn ACL and was part of the Pure Fusion Collective alongside Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark.
Davenport, who transitioned from NXT to WWE’s main roster, has also been released. Davenport made significant impacts in NXT UK and NXT before her main roster stint.
The Authors of Pain, managed by Ellering, were known for their dominant presence in the tag team division. Ellering, a legendary manager, is best recognized for leading the Road Warriors in the 1980s and 1990s.
These releases have reportedly caught many within WWE off guard, especially given that some of the talents had been featured on television recently. The exact reasons behind these decisions remain speculative, but such roster adjustments are not unprecedented in WWE’s history.
As is customary, the released talents are expected to observe a 90-day non-compete clause before exploring opportunities with other wrestling promotions. Fans and industry insiders will be keenly watching to see where these performers might appear next.
WWE has not yet issued an official statement regarding these roster changes. The company continues to evolve its talent lineup in response to shifting dynamics within the wrestling industry.
