Gabe Norwood believes it’s Rain or Shine’s time to win PBA title

Veteran forward Gabe Norwood is filled with optimism that the upcoming season will be the year for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

During their team-building session, Norwood expressed excitement for the upcoming season, especially with the addition of promising rookies Luis Villegas, Keith Datu, Sherwin Concepcion, and Adrian Nocum.

“Really excited for our team,” Norwood said in the video posted on the team’s social media page. “I think they (the rookies) fit perfectly with what we are trying to do. Truly excited for the conference to start… Lord willing, we get to where we want to go and get to a championship.”

“Like myself, Beau (Belga), and the coaching staff, there is nothing like winning a championship here,” he added.

Rain or Shine last won a PBA title in the 2016 Commissioner’s Cup. It was also the last time that an independent team won a championship in Asia’s first pay-for-play league.

With the arrival of rookies and veteran import DaJuan Summers, Norwood thinks Rain or Shine is poised for a breakout year.

“Granted I can’t say I know how it feels like to win a championship anywhere else, but just knowing the league, knowing how hard it is and the hard work that goes into it, and how much joy you bring your family, management, the fans, and really providing a fresh air for the league, it is needed for a team like us to win, and I think it’s due time,” the former Gilas mainstay added.
