Jia Morado cautions Alas Pilipinas against Australia: Napag aralan na nila kami

Alas Pilipinas national women’s volleyball team’s group stage win over Australia last week does not guarantee that they can repeat the feat in the bronze medal match of the AVC Challenge Cup for Women this afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

According to Alas team captain Julia Morado-de Guzman, they have to prepare hard against Australia since their opponents have already scouted and studied their tendencies.

“Makakalaban namin sila nang napag aralan na din kami, so back to the drawing board kami,” Morado-de Guzman said after the Alas Pilipinas’ semifinals defeat to Kazakhstan on Tuesday night.

“Pero just keep playing; manalo matalo may matutunan kami sa laro, may matutunan kami mula sa kalaban,” she added. “But, hopefully, mas better ‘yung passing namin against Australia.”

Regardless, Morado-de Guzman said that the national women’s volleyball team has already overachieved in the week-long tournament, as no one expected them to go this far, especially with a short period of preparation.

“Actually, before the (game against Kazakhstan), we told the girls that we already exceeded expectations; all that we have asked for the girls is to leave it all on the floor regardless of the result,” Morado-de Guzman said.

“Ramdam ko na lumalaban kahit na dehado kami, lumalaban kami kahit mabilis kaming mapuntusan ng Kazakhstan, feel ko pa din na gustong gusto lumaban ng bawa’t isa sa amin whether inside the court or outside,” she added.

“Nagkulang kami, but we know that we can learn and be better for the future. Mas kailangan higitan pa namin,” the Denzo Airybees setter further said.
